1980 Kawasaki KZ1000G Z-1 Classic

1980 Kawasaki KZ1000G Z-1 Classic

Developed for the American market, the “Z-1 Classic” was a Super Cruiser. Utilizing the same frame and bodywork as the Kawasaki LTD model, and with all of the benefits of the infamous Z1 motor. Not only is it fuel injected like the Z1000H model — Kawasaki’s first EFI motorcycle — but the DOHC 1015cc power plant is capable of 93hp. To ensure comfortable and safe long-haul riding, the KZ1000G is fitted with two 320mm disc brakes up front and a dual-piston caliper with a single disc in the back.

Our bike is a very original example. Take note of the unique style elements from the factory, like the multitude of chrome and polished surfaces, including: the engine covers, cam covers, fuel tank sides, chain guard, and even the rear sprocket is chrome! It has an aftermarket Kerker 4-into-1 exhaust system and a Kerker oil-cooler, both of which are period correct and were dealership sold when this bike was new.

PLEASE NOTE: This bike runs, however, we feel it needs a fuel pressure regulator. It has an erratic idle. We’ve fitted it with a new Pingel petcock, as well as fuel lines. It has a new battery and spark plugs. The tank was resealed at some point and is in great condition (refer to photos).

Odometer: 23,905 miles.
